Pumpkin Patches You Need to Visit This Fall in Guelph, Ontario

Oct 22, 2022

Five pumpkin patches are just a short drive from Guelph, Ontario, and are definitely worth the visit.

Corn stalks, gourds, hay bales, wagon rides, and, most importantly, pumpkins are all fall-season staples. Here are five pumpkin patches near Guelph that are worth visiting this October!

Strom’s Farm and Bakery

10 Minute Drive

Strom’s Farm and Bakery is a second-generation farm located a short drive from the city. First and foremost, the farm offers more than 15 types of pumpkins for purchase, as well as a marketplace full of homemade treats such as pies, cookies, tarts, and ice cream sandwiches. The farm also has an activity area that features hay and rope mazes, human foosball, and a pumpkin chuck game on the weekends, making it an excellent option for families.

However, where Strom’s shines is their corn mazes. A tradition started in 2002, every year, Strom’s creates a 6-acre corn maze. In 2005, they began partnering with community organizations that allow them to give back to the Guelph area by donating maze admission proceeds! This year, they have partnered with Hospice Wellington.

Snyder’s Family Farm

Snyder's is a popular choice in southeastern Ontario. General admission includes access to a petting zoo, children's play areas, a corn maze, and a hayride. However, visiting the bakery and 14-acre pumpkin patch is completely free. The gorgeous property also boasts campfire pods where groups from 2-14 can enjoy a fall campfire even if they don't have the space at home.

Snyder’s is also home to the legendary Fear Farm – an immersive Halloween experience for those 16 and up. Fear Farm features one haunted hayride, three indoor haunted houses, two corn maze haunts, and five food and drinks areas to relax in between attractions.

Downey’s Farm

40 Minute Drive

Started in 1920, this fourth-generation family farm is 215 acres of fresh fruit, fun and memories. From Rhubarb to Christmas trees, Downey's sells fresh fruit and vegetables all year round through their farm market, along with a collection of baked goods, treats and fresh free-range turkeys during the holiday season.

From September 17 – October 31, the farm is alive with the fall essentials! Their play area includes access to a farm animal barn, a puppet and magic show, and a rope course. Still, most importantly, they have a large pick-your-own pumpkin patch where you'll be able to find the perfect jack-o-lantern pumpkin.

Andrews’ Farm Market & Winery

Another gorgeous family-run farm, Andrews', is in Milton and boasts the only winery in the Halton Region. They offer a robust line of wines, including fruit wines, dessert wines, and signature red and white wines.

Andrews' is also a prominent pick-your-own farm; during the year, visitors can pick strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, as well as pumpkins and flowers. They have gourds, squash, pumpkins, and winter squash this October. They charge $1.00 for baskets to reduce litter in their fields, so you're strongly encouraged to bring your own basket or bag!

Chudleigh’s Entertainment Farm

We also featured Chudleigh's in our Best Apple Orchards Near Guelph article, but during October, they have pumpkins growing between the rows of apple trees, ripe for the picking! Admission to the farm gets you two for one – a bushel of fresh apples and a couple of crisp pumpkins.

The farm also features wagon rides by the Niagara Escarpment, farm animals, a nature hike, and a play area for children and those young at heart. Finish up the day at the Farm Kitchen, where you can find their signature Apple Blossom dessert and hot coffee – then pick up some homemade jam, preserves, or other goodies to take Chudleigh's home with you.
