DIY Spring Crafts!

Apr 03, 2023

It's a great time to refresh your home interiors with some DIY craft projects!

4 small, cotton lavender pouches with a dish and a spoon of lavender are set against a blue and white striped background. The pouches have flowers embroidered on them.

With Spring in full swing, it is a great time to refresh your home interiors with some DIY craft projects! These projects will last and can be passed down through the generations as lovely keepsakes.

All of these crafts are low cost so keeping to a budget is manageable and no matter your crafting skills, they are easy to do! Head to your local craft store, pick up the materials you need, come home and with your favorite movie or music playing, get to it!

First up, a classic home decor piece; a
Spring wreath! Wreaths are a wonderful way to welcome people into your home, as the first thing they see is a beautiful wreath. You can either go with artificial flowers or use real fresh or dry flowers. Also adding some Easter inspired decorations such as little eggs or bunnies will really set it off!

Here is what you will need:

  • Wreath frame
  • Wire reel
  • Selection of foliage and twigs:
  • Flowers
  • Moss (optional)
  • Water tubes if you are using real foliage
  • Bowl of water
  • Ribbon
  • Extra decorations – mini Easter eggs, fluffy chicks, bunnies, or even ribbons and bows!

Lavender pouches are a fantastic way to bring new, fresh scents into your home, while also acting as a heat pack!

A sweet-smelling lavender sachet will brighten up a purse or drawer bringing the fresh scent inside. You can heat them up in the microwave and use them as hand warmers, or on areas of your body such as joints, your neck or lower back to alleviate aches and pains.

What you will need:

  • Dried lavender
  • Rice (or dried corn or flax seed)
  • Fabric of your choice, preferably something more breathable
  • Needle and thread
  • Scissors

Table centrepieces are a great focal point for decoration and discussion. Whether you incorporate mixed materials, flowers or fruit, it is a wonderful way to express yourself and get creative.

This tutorial only takes around 20 minutes to put together! It is a simple yet effective way of creating a basic centerpiece using Spring inspired decor, but due to its simplicity, it is the perfect canvas for you to take inspiration from and make it your own.

Here is a list of what you will need:

  • Candle
  • Glass container
  • Bowl
  • Wreath
  • Faux flowers

The German tradition of decorating trees with eggs, officially known as Ostereierbaum or Egg Trees, dates back centuries! The exact origin of when it began is unknown, but it is a very sweet long-standing tradition which we think should be continued!

The Ostereierbaum trees can either be placed outside your home, on a balcony or inside, perched on the mantel or sideboard for a beautiful spring arrangement.

This is what you will need:

  • Branches- real or artificial based on your preference
  • Eggs- the traditional way is to use blown-out eggs, but plastic or wooden ones will work just as well
  • Paint- to paint the eggs fun colors
  • Ribbon/String to attach to the eggs so you can hang them off the branches
  • Scissors
  • A vase/receptacle to hold the branches

The final tutorial we think you’ll love is how to make a Paper Flower Bouquet!

Paper flowers are fast becoming a very popular option for home decor and even weddings! They last forever, even longer than dried flowers which makes them much more attractive as a keepsake!

The list of materials that you will need is very minimal, and the process of actually making a bouquet is relaxing and therapeutic.

Here is what you will need:

  • Paper
  • Invisible or matte tape
  • Wood skewers
