The German tradition of decorating trees with eggs, officially known as Ostereierbaum or Egg Trees, dates back centuries! The exact origin of when it began is unknown, but it is a very sweet long-standing tradition which we think should be continued!
The Ostereierbaum trees can either be placed outside your home, on a balcony or inside, perched on the mantel or sideboard for a beautiful spring arrangement.
This is what you will need:
- Branches- real or artificial based on your preference
- Eggs- the traditional way is to use blown-out eggs, but plastic or wooden ones will work just as well
- Paint- to paint the eggs fun colors
- Ribbon/String to attach to the eggs so you can hang them off the branches
- Scissors
- A vase/receptacle to hold the branches
