Bring a piece of the tropics indoors with these unique tropical plants

Having houseplants around your home is the best way to spruce up your interior decor and add a little touch of exotic style to your home. Whether you love flowering plants or punchy foliage, here is a look at some of the best tropical plants.

Bird of Paradise
One of the most unusual tropical plants. Large oval-shaped leaves hold tall stalks of orange and blue/purple blooms. It is quite the rigorous grower - they can grow up to be four feet tall and need a few years before they flower. Keep moist, but be mindful of overwatering. Perfect for spots in your home with bright light and minimal direct sun.

Anthurium
They are highly cherished for its vibrant red or pink blooms. They are a little finicky to grow, but once you get the hang of it, it’s worth it! Ideal for any location that has bright indirect light - the full sun can cause the flowers or leaves to burn.

Orchids
Growing
orchids is easy when you follow the correct care tips, and it is definitely worth it. They flower in yellow, pink, white, and even peach. They truly bring a touch of flair to any location that receives indirect sunlight for a few hours.

Elephant Ears
Large arrow-shaped dark green ribs have silver ribbing. Aside from making a statement, they are one of the easiest types of
Alocasia species to grow. Ensure it is planted in rich, fast-draining soil and fertilize regularly. Keep moist, but avoid wet roots—best for filtered sun or part shade.

Peace Lily
If you’re looking for a traditional houseplant, peace lilies are the way to go. Glossy oval green leaves hover over the side of the plant. It will flower once or twice a year with delicate white oval flowers. It grows best in partial shade, and soil should be moist but well-draining.

Philodendron
There is an abundance of foliage colours, textures, and shapes with philodendrons. Some types are trailing, while others are used indoors for a structural statement. They are generally low maintenance, but keep in mind they like indirect sun and water when the first couple inches of the soil are dry. A moisture metre is excellent for keeping track of this.
